Step 3: Educate Team Members
Once Trainers are certified, they begin teaching the ERCC Team Member Course to Team Members within their long-term care (LTC) home. The number of Team Members eligible for the ERCC Team Member Course is based on home size and is confirmed when the application is approved. New this year, other team members in addition to PSWs can participate in the ERCC Team Member Course. Priority will be given to PSWs for the ERCC Team Member Course but other team members are eligible. The course consists of 8-hours of in-person education, typically delivered by 1-2 Trainers to 10-24 Team Members. This section provides information about registering for and completing the ERCC Team Member Course.
Lead Contacts work with Trainers to plan ERCC Team Member Course(s) in the LTC home. The number of Team Members eligible to participate in the course and receive tuition and backfill reibursement is included in the application approval email to the Lead Contact.
Typically, 1-2 Trainers deliver the 8-hour in-person course to 10-20 Team Members. LTC homes may need to schedule multiple ERCC Team Member Courses, depending on the number of Team Members they are approved for.

During each ERCC Team Member Course, Trainers are responsible for ensuring each Team Member in attendance completes an online registration form through eConestoga. One complete registration per Team Member is required for a certificate of completion and for the LTC home to receive backfill reimbursement.
Team Member tuition is automatically covered by the fund upon registration. There is no up-front expense to the LTC home or PSW for tuition.
Upon completion of each ERCC Team Member Course, Trainers are responsible for ensuring an online course record is entered into eConestoga. One complete record per course is required for certificates of participation and for the LTC home to receive backfill reimbursement.
LTC homes will be provided reimbursement for backfill at a standard rate ($25 per hour x 8 hours = $200) for each Trainer who teaches the course and each Team Member who successfully completes the ERCC Team Member Course (see the Implementation Guide for additional details on funding and reimbursement). This amount is calculated automatically based on the approved application and registration. LTC homes do not need to submit an expense form to be reimbursed for backfill.
Backfill reimbursement is mailed by cheque to the LTC home within 60 days of Team Members successfully completing the ERCC Team Member Course.
